The Event The Films The Panel Contact

The Film Summit
Wednesday October 24th – 7:00 pm
Innis Town Hall - University of Toronto

In a time of booming box offices, paparazzi film fests, and the improbable parity of the Canadian Dollar, Toronto’s connection with Hollywood has never been more prominent. Yet despite this period of promise and profit, the cultural and ideological divide between the two has only widened.

While Identity was once synonymous with Nationality, industry evolution and the merge of markets have essentially redefined these conventions. Canadian filmmakers are caught between two distinctly different systems – both with their inherent benefits and drawbacks.

For emerging Canadian talent, the question becomes-
Do you stay or do you go?

To examine both the cause and consequences of this vital question, THE FILM SUMMIT has assembled a group of the year’s most promising Canadian talent, fresh from the front lines of the US and Canada’s finest filmmaking institutes

2 Films from the The Canadian Film Centre.
2 from The American Film Institute

Immediately following these exclusive screenings, the four Directors will be joined by acclaimed director WARREN SONODA, CFC Producing Grad PAUL LENART and Canadian AFI Grad JEFF STEPHENSON for an interactive Q&A on the Films, the Institutes and the evolving nature of both Industries.

Come out and join us for this unique opportunity.
